Garden Story is a game that, when you see it, you immediately want to buy and play it. It’s incredibly cute, it has a fun story, and some relaxing yet engaging gameplay. Originally, Garden Story was expected to release in 2020. Now, the game is being pushed back to 2021 but for a fantastic reason rather than a sad one!
Garden Story release pushed back to 2021
Earlier today, developer Rose City Games confirmed they are pushing the release of Garden Story back from 2020 to 2021.
The reason why they’re delaying the release of Garden Story has less to do with complications and more to do with the overwhelmingly positive reception the game has received. On Twitter, the official Garden Story account posted the following information:
“Spring has sprung, and you may be wondering about Garden Story’s release: we have some exciting news about that in our latest update,” the tweet thread began.
“The big news? We have the opportunity to expand the world of Garden Story! This means more fruits! More frogs! More making The Grove a better place. For this, we’ll need a little more time and are now planning on a 2021 release. We’ll let you know more as soon as possible!”
The final tweet in the Garden Story announcement goes on to explain they’ve partnered with Kowloon Nights who’ve agreed to support the game’s development. For those unfamiliar, Kowloon Nights is a “global fund dedicated to enabling independent developers” according to a blog post from the company.

For a refresher on Garden Story, the game follows Concord the Grape as a newly-appointed Guardian of The Grove. Concord will be able to explore The Grove, help its inhabitants, and clear out the Rot that’s creeping in.
