To avoid any risk of spoilers, we’ll start by saying that you can get trap mines in The Last of Us Part 2 during Day 1 in Seattle, after you’ve passed the Fuck Fedra gate. That shouldn’t risk ruining any surprises, and will let you know if you’re close to the right spot. We’ll keep any story details to a minimum below as well so you don’t risk ruining anything.

Once you’ve cleared the first downtown area, opened the Fuck Fedra gate and been through the Serevena hotel, you’ll be let out into a slightly more linear suburb area with houses, a gas station and a bookstop.  You’ll be making your way downhill here, any eventually you’ll come across a motel-style building with a lower and upper floor. To the right of this building will be a small space with some overgrown parking spaces and an overhanging balcony that you can’t reach. It’s in the room behind this balcony that you can get trap mines in The Last of Us Part 2.

Look around and you should see a wheelie dumpster bin (a big metal waste bin) behind a fence, Roll this out and push it under the balcony and you’ll be able to climb up. Dina will question where you’re going, but trust us, it’s worth it. Inside the room you’ll find several different supplies that’ll prove useful for crafting purposes, the rockafella trading card, and the all-important trap mines. Picking up one will unlock the crafting recipe permanently, letting you make more punchy presents whenever you’ve got the ingredients.
