You’ll find plenty of parts to scavenge in the opening stages of the game, but to upgrade weapons in The Last of Us Part 2, you need to find a workbench. These are dotted throughout the game, and often you’ll need to hunt them out. The first one, however, will be shown off as part of the main story path. As you explore the library with Dina, you’ll find and activate a generator. Once that’s on, Ellie will turn around and notice a workbench against the wall behind her. Walk up to this and you can press triangle to open the upgrade menu for weapons.
