Nintendo's free Jump Rope Challenge game for Switch helps you stay active inside

A few Nintendo developers made the Jump Rope Challenge game during quarantine to stay active, now you can too!

Nintendo has released a free Jump Rope Challenge game for the Switch to encourage players to stay active while stuck inside.

The game is available to download from the eShop for free and uses the Switch's Joy-Con controllers as jump rope handles for you to jump along with a rabbit on-screen.

A handful of Japanese Nintendo developers made the simple game while working from home as the country's coronavirus quarantine continued throughout the past few months.

You can hop along with a friend as well, and the game takes the format of Ring Fit's daily exercise plan, charting your journey and (hopeful) improvements over multiple days.

This is a welcome arrival for Nintendo fans who have been struggling to get their hands on Ring Fit Adventure, Nintendo's exercise-focused RPG, throughout the global COVID-19 lockdown. Even before most of the world's population was confined to their homes the game was selling through any stock that arrived at retailers, which was exacerbated by Nintendo's assembly plants in China being among the first to shutdown after the initial outbreak in Wuhan at the start of the year.

If you've been struggling to get your daily exercise in during the coronavirus quarantine, Nintendo's free Jump Rope Challenge game could be just what you need. Try it out by downloading it from the Nintendo eShop on Switch, and did we mention it's free? Come on, what do you have to lose? Other than a few pounds, maybe? But that's the point?
