Project Athia, an RPG game with magic and dragons using the FFXV engine, will launch exclusively on PlayStation 5 at some point after its holiday 2020 release. It will also release on PC, so we guess that bit in the trailer below just means 'console exclusivity', unless words no longer have any meaning.
The game was revealed today in Sony's PS5 game reveal stream, alongside Gran Turismo 7, Spider-Man Miles Morales and Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart. Check out the Project Athia teaser trailer below.
Project Athia is being developed by Luminous Productions, the newest developer outfit at Square Enix. Luminous are best known for developing the game engine which has previously been used in Final Fantasy XV.
"Project Athia is the culmination of Luminous Productions’ philosophy to create a completely new and fresh gaming experiences that fuses together the latest technologies with art," the game's announcement trailer description reads. "With the PlayStation 5, their vision truly comes to life, and with Project Athia you can look forward to being transported to a vast and detailed world filled with beauty and dismay."
It's unclear if Project Athia is a final title, or a working title, and there's no release window at the moment, however the press release for the game also lists a PC release is on the card, making this just a PS5 console-exclusive. We'll bring you more information about the PS5 console exclusive when it is available.
