If you’re working to complete your shark collection in Animal Crossing: New Horizons, you’ll need to know how to catch sharks like the Saw Shark. The Saw Shark is one of several sharks available in Animal Crossing: New Horizons right now with others like the Great White and Whale Shark swimming around in the sea as well.

If you’re wondering whether the process of catching all of these sharks is the same, the answer is yes and no. To elaborate further, the Whale Shark can be caught all day while the Saw Shark, Hammerhead Shark, and Great White Shark can only be caught from 4 p.m. until 9 a.m. in the sea.

Finned fish aren’t always sharks as they can also be Suckerfish which are cute, but way less valuable at 1,500 Bells each. Keeping this in mind, spotting a finned fish isn’t enough to guarantee you’ll catch a Saw Shark as you could easily reel in a Hammerhead Shark or the aforementioned Suckerfish. As such, the key to catching a Saw Fish is to try and catch all finned fish shadows.

Whenever you see a fish shadow with a fin, go for it. Even if you don’t catch a Saw Shark right away, you have the opportunity to catch others like the Great White Shark so it’s a win/win. If you’re having a hard time getting finned fish to spawn, you can try using a little Fish Bait to lure them out.

You can also go on a Mystery Island Tour and try to land on a fish island. We were able to catch several sharks on our last Mystery Island Tour including the Great White and the Saw Shark along with other fish like the Arapaima. No matter where you fish though, you should be able to catch a Saw Shark in the seas of the Northern Hemisphere from 4 p.m. until 9 a.m. in Animal Crossing: New Horizons!
