A common question that Animal Crossing: New Horizons players have now that it’s officially June is how to catch a Great White Shark. Other questions include: are they available, where can you find them, when are they active, and how much do they sell for? To start, the Great White Shark is available in Animal Crossing: New Horizons as of June 1 in the Northern Hemisphere.

Similar to other sharks like the Whale Shark, you can catch a Great White Shark by fishing in the sea and looking for a large fish shadow with a fin. The Great White Shark is the rarest of the newly added sharks, so you may end up catching a Suckerfish, Hammerhead Shark, or a Whale Shark before you reel in a Great White.

The Great White Shark is only active from 4 p.m until 9 a.m. while fish like the Whale Shark are active all day. If you’re fishing and see a fish shadow with a fin at 2 p.m. it’s not a Great White Shark. To get a Great White Shark, you’ll want to start fishing at 4 p.m. and scan the deeper parts of your ocean coastline as they tend to spawn here the most.

If you’re having a hard time getting finned fish to spawn, you can try using a little Fish Bait to try and lure them out. Alternatively, you can go on a Mystery Island Tour as you may get lucky and land on a fish island. We caught our Great White Shark on a fish island with a spiral in the center. We also caught other rare fish like the Arapaima and Arowana.

No matter where you fish though, you can catch a Great White Shark on Northern Hemisphere islands and Mystery Island Tours from 4 p.m. until 9 a.m. in the sea.
