The Epic Games Store continues to improve its functionality with regular updates. In the latest update, Epic rolled out self-refunds and announced they are partnering with third-party sites for keyless integration. With keyless integration in place, it’ll be easier to purchase games from other sites to play on the Epic Games Store.

In a new development update from Epic Games, it was revealed that self-refunds and keyless integration have been added to the Epic Games Store. First, the ability to easily request a refund has been a frequent point of conversation among Epic Games Store users, all wondering when the feature would be made available.
It’s taken a bit of time, but self-service refunds have finally hit the Epic Games Store. If you purchase a game on accident or find you're unable to run the game you bought on your system, you can request a refund. As you’d expect, there are rules and restrictions to self-refunds.
You can only request a refund if it’s within 14 days of the game’s purchase and if you’ve played it for less than 2 hours. You also can’t request a refund for a game you’ve been banned for and can no longer play as a result of that ban.
If you need to request a self-refund you can do so by visiting the Epic Games website, selecting “Account” and then “Transactions” where you can browse through your purchases. Locate the game you want a refund on, and if it meets the criteria for a self-refund, you can select “Refund” and fill out the request form. The refunded money will be returned to your original form of payment.
Along with the implementation of self-refunds, Epic announced they’ve partnered with several third-party sites to offer Epic Games Store users keyless integration. For example, if you buy a lot of games for the Epic Games Store on a site like Green Man Gaming, you can now link your Epic account to add those games to your library upon purchase.
You no longer need to get a code, and then take that code to the Epic Games Store, and add it to your account manually. Keyless integration only works with a few partnered sites right now like the aforementioned Green Man Gaming. Talking about the new keyless integration, the development update notes:
“Today we announced partnerships with third-party digital sales platforms; Fanatical, Green Man Gaming, and Genba Digital to offer keyless purchases for Epic Games Store titles. These partnerships make it easier for players to purchase games from third-party sites, by allowing them to link their Epic Games Store accounts to their retailer of choice.
Players will no longer need to take additional steps to redeem a key which often includes exchanging 20-digit redemption codes. Instead, this provides more confidence knowing a purchase is coming from a legitimate source and that it is directly attributed to your linked Epic Games account.”
Other minor updates made to the Epic Games Store include an expanded list of accepted currencies with the following currencies being added:
- CAD
- AUD
- SEK
- DKK
- NOK
Bandwidth management tools have also been added, giving Epic Games Store users more control over how games download, such as if they need to throttle downloads. The development update ends by teasing features that will be added in the next update including the highly anticipated Mod Marketplace and Achievements.
Overall, the changes Epic has been making to the Epic Games Store have made gaming on the platform more user-friendly. We look forward to seeing how the Mod Marketplace will work once that update rolls out, especially for games we expect to see mods for at some point like Chivalry 2.
