The Last of Us Part 2 story trailer shows Ellie making a lot of hard choices

Looks like another day in paradise for Ellie in The Last of Us Part 2!

The Last of Us Part 2 story trailer has arrived and shows us a short glimpse of all the struggles Ellie must go through on her second journey through the apocalypse.

After growing up and getting a tattoo and becoming estranged by Joel, Ellie heads out on some sort of mission that inadvertently requires her to kill legions and legions of people. Or maybe that is entirely advertently. It's hard to tell, she has some pent up anger to be sure, and rightly so.

Previous trailers for The Last of Us Part 2 have introduced a number of other factions Ellie meets along the way, aside from the ever-present Clicker zombies and the well-equipped Fireflies (who might be all dead by now? Hard to tell). These new foes include a devoted gang of zealots who will probably pose some sort of roadblock to her progress.

Gameplay snippets from The Last of Us Part 2 story trailer mostly show a number of grapple attacks that Ellie gets into, with savage results, and an increasingly blurry line between cinematics and live action. It is quite remarkable what Naughty Dog can accomplish with end-of-generation titles like The Last of Us.

The Last of Us Part 2 comes out on June 19, after a number of unfortunate delays, but that hasn't stopped even more of its story appearing online in the past week thanks to what Sony is ascribing to malicious hackers.

The sequel's road to release has also had some other bumps along the way, including the outright cancellation of the multiplayer component of The Last of Us Part 2, though developers Naughty Dog have said they may retain the work done on it for some sort of standalone game in the future. We hope so because, despite it being a little incongruous with the game's story, the multiplayer in The Last of Us was a fun step up from similar modes in the Uncharted series.

Have you managed to avoid The Last of Us Part 2 spoilers enough to still enjoy this story trailer? And even if you haven't, are you looking forward to continuing Joel and Ellie's journey next month? Let us know in the comments below.
