Turnips are a weekly craze in Animal Crossing: New Horizons. Grown and sold by Daisy Mae, they’re the fastest ways to make enormous amounts of money, and so long as you have a friend or two, the risk isn’t even that high. Similar to fruit like apples, pears, oranges, cherries and peaches, turnips can also be eaten to grant you extra strength. Naturally this has led many a canny villager to wonder if they behave similar in other ways, namely whether you can grow turnips in Animal Crossing: New Horizons. After all, why wait for Daisy Mae to arrive each week if you can just make your own turnip farm? Well, we’ve got the answer for you here, but you might not like it. Read on to answer the question, can you grow turnips in Animal Crossing: New Horizons.
Can you grow turnips in Animal Crossing: New Horizons?
No. You cannot grow turnips in Animal Crossing: New Horizons. We’re not exactly sure why the turnips in Animal Crossing: New Horizons are sterile, but it must be that the big farming corporation of Daisy Mae and Joan has made it so that they can corner the market.
Whatever the reason, the key details is that you cannot plant or grow turnips in Animal Crossing: New Horizons. At least, not right now. In previous entries in the series, Joan the turnip seller would also sell red turnip seeds. These could be planted to grow your own turnips for profit, but demanded you water them every single day. Miss a single day, and the turnips would wilt. We don’t know if red turnips will ever be added to Animal Crossing: New Horizons, but there’s a chance Nintendo will mix up the money-making system further down the line.
