Eleven new bugs are being added to Animal Crossing: New Horizons in May, eight for the Northern Hemisphere, and three for the Southern Hemisphere. The most exciting ‘new’ additions include a swap between two bugs worth 8,000 Bells, the Scorpion and the Tarantula.

Starting in May, the Northern Hemisphere will be able to farm for Scorpions, while the Southern Hemisphere nets the opportunity to catch and sell Tarantulas. Both insects behave similarly, forcing you to be slow and cautious as you approach them.

That said, if they give chase, you’ll still be able to net them provided you get enough distance between you and the insect you’ve angered. Scorpions and Tarantulas aside, here’s the full list of new bugs being added to Animal Crossing: New Horizons in May!

New Bugs for May in Animal Crossing: New Horizons - Northern Hemisphere

  • Banded Dragonfly - Flying (4,500 Bells)
  • Diving Beetle - Fresh Water (800 Bells)
  • Great Purple Emperor - Flying (3,000 Bells)
  • Pondskater - Fresh Water (130 Bells)
  • Queen Alexandra's Birdwing - Flying (4,000 Bells)
  • Rosalia Batesi Beetle - Tree Stump (3,000 Bells)

New Bugs for May in Animal Crossing: New Horizons - Southern Hemisphere

  • Damselfly - Flying (500 Bells)
  • Mole Cricket - Underground (500 Bells)
  • Tarantula - Ground (8,000 Bells)

Unfortunately for the Southern Hemisphere, only the Tarantula is worth it when farming for Bells as Tarantulas sell for 8,000 Bells a piece. The Damselfly and Mole Cricket are less valuable, but can still be given over to Blathers in order to help you expand your Museum.

The Northern Hemisphere is getting spoiled in May with the Banded Dragonfly, Great Purple Emperor, Queen Alexandra’s Birdwing, Rosalia Batesi Beetle, and Scorpion all worth several thousand Bells each.
